The Development Research Division of the Centre for Development Research and Criminal Justice (CDRCJ) offers generous three year DAAD merit scholarships for PhD students in Development Studies, Governance, Public Policy or Public Management at the University of the Western Cape in Cape Town. The closing date for scholarship applications for full-time students to commence their studies in January 2011 is the 15th of September 2010. Entry requirements:

Please also notify us by e-mail if you submit a hard copy by mail, as mail can sometimes be very slow and unreliable. Interviews for shortlisted candidates will be held between 14 and 18 October 2010, either face-to-face or telephonically or via Skype. Please ensure that you will be available during this period if contacted for an interview. All applicants will be informed about their applications after the 18th of October 2010. Successful applicants will study at the UWC but will also undertake doctoral course work at the IEE, the Institute for Development Research and Development Policy at the Ruhr-University, Bochum in Germany, the academic partner of UWC.
